Startup Idea Validator
Most startup idea validators give you generic advice dressed up in a score. IdeaCheck is different — every verdict is grounded in 28,000+ real Hacker News discussions where founders like you already debated similar ideas.
What you get
- Four scores (0–10) — market demand, technical complexity, distribution difficulty, and timing. Each with a plain-English rationale.
- A final verdict — PASS (strong signal), PROMISING (worth exploring), or PASS ON (community was skeptical of similar ideas).
- Hacker News evidence — the actual threads that influenced the score, so you can read the original debate yourself.
Why Hacker News?
Hacker News has been hosting founder discussions since 2007. Ask HN threads surface real-world skepticism: "we tried this in 2019 and the CAC killed us", "the API pricing makes this unviable", "this already exists — here's the incumbent." That kind of institutional memory is hard to find anywhere else.
How to get the best results
- Be specific. "AI for healthcare" scores poorly — "AI that triages GP referrals for UK NHS trusts" surfaces much better context.
- Include your target customer and distribution channel if you have one.
- Describe what makes your approach different from existing solutions.
