Privacy Policy — Kashmiri Dictionary

This policy describes how the Kashmiri Dictionary app collects and uses information. It covers the Android app (package org.bhairav.kashmiri_dictionary_app, published on Google Play by digidom, operated by VESHISHTH TECHNOLOGIES, Bengaluru, India) and the iPhone app (bundle ID org.bhairav.kashmiriDictionaryApp, published on the App Store by Vikas Veshishth Gargay, Bengaluru, India). The app is a digital edition of George Grierson's 1916 Kashmiri-English dictionary with search, browse, and bookmark features.

What we collect

We collect the minimum data needed to run the app:

• Email address — only if you choose to sign in with Google or Apple. Supabase Auth provides your email from the identity provider.
• Name — only if you sign in with Google, which shares your profile name with Supabase Auth. It is stored with your account; the app does not display or use it.
• Anonymous device identifier — a random UUID generated on first launch, used to track your diamond balance when you are not signed in. Not linked to any device fingerprint, advertising ID, or hardware ID.
• Diamond balance and premium status — the number of free entry views you have remaining and whether you have purchased premium access.
• Analytics events — anonymised in-app events (screen opens, searches performed, entries viewed, diamond spends) sent to Mixpanel to help us understand how the app is used. No raw search queries containing personal information are collected.

What we do NOT collect

• Your phone number, postal address, or any government ID.
• Your contacts, calendar, photos, or files.
• Your precise or approximate location.
• Advertising IDs or any advertising tracker.
• Any content from other apps on your device.
• Your bookmarks and viewing history — these stay on your device in local storage and are never uploaded.

Third-party services

• Supabase Auth — handles Google and Apple sign-in and stores your account email and authentication identity.
• Mixpanel — collects anonymised in-app analytics events as described above. No personally identifiable information is sent.
• Google Play Billing and the Apple App Store — if you purchase premium access or diamond packs, Google (on Android) or Apple (on iPhone) processes the transaction. We never see your card details.
• RevenueCat— receives the store's purchase receipt and your account ID so it can verify purchases and tell our server to credit your diamonds or premium access.

Data retention

Your account data (email, diamond balance, premium status) is kept while your account is active. Analytics events are retained for up to 12 months in aggregate form. When you delete your account (see below), all per-user data is removed within 7 days.

Your rights

• Use the app anonymously — no sign-in is required to search or browse.
• Sign out at any time from Settings → Sign out.
• Delete your account and all associated data at any time — see the account deletion page. Deletion takes effect after a 7-day grace period, during which you can cancel by signing in again.
• Request a copy of the data we hold about you by emailing vikas.ideacheck@gmail.com.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be announced in-app or via the email on your account.
